Goodnight(?) Mrs. Calabash...

This was taken at dusk back in November 2009. It was at Silver Lake Park in Bristol, Pennsylvania. This man, in his late 80's at the time, had a load of historical perspective about this park, which wasn't a park during his childhood. He talked with me for about an hour as I pictured him as a little boy, dressed as he was this day, floating down the river on a makeshift raft. This boardwalk meanders through a bog in the park.
------------
I used TOPAZ Restyle to change the dusky light to what looks more like morning. The "spotlight" on the bog is sort of reminiscent of the spotlights on the stage as Jimmy Durante exited at the end of each of his shows.

What you've done with the light here is exceptional, and even the thumbnail, with its color and form, demands that the viewer look more closely. #11265482Mary K. Robison March 14, 2015

Head down, hands in pockets and perhaps lost in his thoughts and memories of days gone by, your capture evokes a myriad of emotions to the viewer. An exceptional story telling image, Michelle, made all the more so by your own descriptive and beautifully written story telling. Bless your heart for the hour spent with him...probably doing what he needed most....just listening. #11265493Reynaldo D. Reyes March 14, 2015
