The extraordinary story of this man's bravery was told in a documentary at 2:00 AM, beginning Memorial Day on an inspiring note.
Per the Internet:"Desmond Doss is the only person to receive the Congressional Medal of Honor for non-combat achievements in World War II, and the first conscientious objector to receive the medal. As a medic in the Army’s 77th Infantry Division, he single-handedly brought 75 wounded troops to safety while under constant fire on Okinawa on May 5, 1945 .He received the military’s highest award from President Harry Truman on Oct. 12, 1945. The Army had estimated the number of men Doss saved on that day in May at 100, though the humble Doss stated that it couldn’t have been more than 50. The Army decided to split the difference, and put 75 on his citation. "

The truly incredible part of that story is that he came out of the rescue without a scratch on him. He was badly wounded in another battle, but told the other medic to take care of another wounded soldier first.Tammy M. Anderson May 26, 2014

Wow. Amazing. Just imagine the courage it took to do what he did.I don't believe in war but I know there is a time and a place for it. I just wish there never had to be such a thing.
