Main House King Ranch
Uploaded: January 22, 2014
1n 1885 King began dying of cancer and urged his family to do as he had been urged by Confederate Jeff Davis never to sell a foot of land. The emergence of the railroad however required selling a small portion to build the right of way and City of Kingville. Henrietta King, Richard's widow built a hugh 17 bedroom Mediterranean style main house which was completed in 1915 and she lived there with peacocks roaming the properties shady oaks. No one lives there now and it is on the Texas historic places. We were not allowed to stop so I had to shoot this through the front windshield. Many places on the ranch photography is forbidden and this was one. I did get some Peacocks captures but none in display.
