Our leaves are coming to an end already. Here is a picture of the canyon 2 days ago and another facing the other direction. #1548546Dale Hardin October 15, 2013
The first image is especially interesting because of the crazy quilt of different colors. I'm used to seeing mainly reds and golds on the west coast, but your image has such a wide variety. Be sure to shoot this every few days to show us how it progresses. #10872469Michael Kelly October 15, 2013
Beth this is an amazing scene. Love the variety of colors.I would make a number of changes that I think will improve the shot. First I would crop off the top left edge as the tiny piece of sky does not add to the shot. I would warm up the color balance and add some sharpening. Increase the exposure. Selectivly remove some blue in the far back. There are some minor tweeaks that could help such as reducing the ligting on the bushes in front etc. Here is a sample edit to show what I have in mind. #10872675

Very nice, Beth. I like where Michaels' suggestions are taking this. #10872809Beth Spencer October 15, 2013
Dale this view is from Pase Point in Blascwater Falls State Park, Davis WV. I put that in for Peter. It is a 3 mile hike in so, I don't get there as often as I would like. We had more reds but they are gone.Dale I am putting another up from where I walk the dogs everyday.Stephen Shoff October 16, 2013
If that were chapparal and bushes on the hillsides instead of trees, that could be a California scene.I agree with Mike on the crop but I think his edit suggestion lost the rich color. I'd back off on the warming part a bit. #10873187

Hi Beth-this is gorgeous!!! I agree with Stephen, it seems a little to light and warm, and you've lost the reds. I like the crop idea and what Michael said about warming up that last hill. You've got a nice picture to work with here!!! #10873356

I like both photos and the edits. I think, though, somewhere in the middle on the warmth might look pretty cool. I do agree with taking that tiny bit of sky out.Having just worked a bunch of photos with fall colors and canyons, I can appreciate these shots. I like how they show so many different lines and angles. It show the expanse of the area.
Very nicely done! These are awesome comps!

Thanks Kalena. Stephen and Elaine, I like it a bit darker and redid it. I am also posting one from my walk this morning. Its just to show our colors.Elaine Hessler October 16, 2013

I like Mike's idea but I think it is too sharp looking. Might apply a glamour glow to this to bring back a lot of the vividness and soften what is sharp. It is one of Nik's filters in Color Efex. I can't say enough about how beautiful your neck of the woods is. Beware, we could end up at your doorstep one autumn day with pictures like these. #10873655Beth Spencer October 17, 2013
Thanks Elaine and Kalena for sticking with this!Rita K. Connell October 17, 2013
