Long & Winding Road

Uploaded: October 06, 2013

Through the Colorado mountains! This road is on the climb to Mt. Evans. Colors were coming in nicely.

Nikon 90, 18-200mm lens, PP in LR5, and Color Efx.

Thank you. I had to remove a bunch of power lines and two telephone poles! It took a while! #10864561

Thanks for posting the original so that we may see the excellent job you did in post processing. The comp is beautiful and you brought out all the nice color with your edit as well as eliminating those pesky man made eyesores. The key to a successful edit is that you cannot tell anything was done and without your original I would not have known you made any changes. #10865258

You did a masterful job on this excellent rendition, Kelena. I agree with all the kudos listed above.

If you'd like to take it one step further give this a try. Even though the image is perfectly straight, it creates an optical illusion that it is tilted to the right. This is due to the way the shoulder of the road falls off to the right in the foreground.

Distorting the image to widen the road would not work because it would tilt the trees above that area. However you can select the road and the immediate shoulder in the foreground and widen that to eliminate the perceived tilt.

I hope you don't mind that I've tried the fix and am posting it here to save you the trouble of trying it. If you have any questions on the procedure, let me know. And if you don't like it, let me know that too. #10865272

Kalena, Colorado has beautiful fall color and you have done a masterful job in making it even better than it was. Do you visit Colorado often? #10866148

Kalena Randall October 08, 2013

Debbie, I lived in Conifer, CO, for several years. The road in the photo was not far from my home. We would go to Mt Evans quite often and the 14er that is closest to Denver. I don't get there very often. #10866164
