I have removed the original version and sharpened as per Dale's suggestion. I have decided not to straighten the door post as this is a true depiction of this c.200 year old building in Polperro, Cornwall. I took a quick snap of this door as I was amused that it looked as if it had only recently been painted but the rust on the various metal hadn't been touched in a few decades and the mortise lock, plus a Yale lock, plus a padlock plus a unlocked bolt seemed like overkill! #1544615

Thanks friends. One comes across this intense blue quite frequently in Cornish coastal villages. Or perhaps it is just that the colour catches my eyes much more than more insipid ones when I go back there.
After Dales comments that my original image needing sharpening I deleted it and added this version. Unfortunately I forgot that would also remove both his and Ermano Radice's comments so my apologies to them and thank you friends.
I have tried various sharpening techniques but as you will see they have only been very partially successful. Solution? Shoot way more carefully in the first place than I usually do!
Below, (hopefully)is the original OOC image onto which I have superimposed the PSElements grid which will show that there is hardly a single horizontal or vertical that doesn't lean one way or the other. The strange perspective was caused by me having to stand on a low wall opposite this door in this very narrow alleyway and shoot slightly downwards. #10847003

I wonder if any of those locks would really work...are they for keeping people out or just keeping the door closed? #10850189

I like the blue, and I wonder how well any of the locks will work? #10850528

I want to see what is inside the door. Peter!

Good to see you in the threads again. I would love to have a blue door to photograph. I am almost caught up now after just getting home late yesterday afternoon. #10858507

Hi Debbie, Beth, Lisa and Mike. I think unusual doors have a similar effect on us as caves did on beaches when we were kids. "I wonder what is in there- could be pirates or smugglers treasure!" This blue door is located in Polperro, a tiny fishing village on Cornwall's south coast and indeed smuggling was a popular pursuit there in the 1800's.
As for what is behind that door I am thinking that it was originally where the fisherman owner, about 150yrs ago kept his nets etc and there would be also access to it from inside the house. I say this with some confidence as my elder sister and her husband own a 150yr plus cottage in Mevagissey, Cornwall which has been in Mike's family since it was built and has just such a basement/cellar which has inside and exterior access. It is a national "Listed building" and they have just had to go through an unbelievable rigmarole and expense to get permission from the county archaeological bureaucrats to cover the original cobbled floor to make it usable as an additional room. #10858546
