For the past three days, I have had the opportunity to work as a photographer for the 1st Annual Salt Lake Comic Con. It was an insanely crazy three days and a lot of fun to shoot. Because I was shooting for the Con, you won't see many of the hundreds of images that I shot, but I did hang on to a few for myself.

This guy was at the Weta Digital booth. These guys are responsible for a lot of really cool stuff in the film industry, including set work for Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit. They had some amazing stuff on display.

This was shot before the show opened and the crowds showed up. The conference hall was pretty well lit at this point, and there was a lot of background clutter. Using flash, I was able to eliminate the background and focus on the statue. The harsh light works really well, in my opinion. #1543724

Here's another shot from a neighboring booth, using the same technique to eliminate the background. #10837805

You're having just too much fun with your new job, Jeff, and I can't tell you how happy I am for you. These images are excellent and very representative of your talent and drive. #10837852

Thanks, Dale! Actually, this was completely unrelated to my job. Doug, Rusty and I were hired as part of a team to photograph the event.

Here's another shot. #10838214

Jeff, Jeff, theses are so cooool, creeeepy, and I don't want to look at them anymore. but guess what I keep looking, I think the lighting is awesome and as dale said it really shows your talent of captures even in tough lighting. very well done!

And "you" is the creepiest one makes me shudder. Have you ever watched face-off its really fun to watch them make a person into these characters. #10838367

I love all of these! I think Golum is cute in an ugly way and am sure when I am older I will sport the same hair style!!
Did you get and Green Hulk pictures!! I always have wanted to pick up tanks and cars and throw them like he does! #10839156

These are great Jeff – wonderful detail! I think your solution to the BG worked perfectly. My favorite is YOU, but all are very good. #10839464

Awesome shots Jeff! I agree - the flash works great here, and the brightness on them adds to the creepiness....

And you get paid Jeff? Wow!
But with these images I now need to drive into town to the pharmacy and get some 'sleep aid' tablets. #10840741
