Miller at Mingus Mill

Uploaded: August 30, 2013

Description

Mingus Mill at Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Built in 1886, this historic grist mill uses a water-powered turbine instead of a water wheel to power all of the machinery in the building. Located at its original site, Mingus Mill stands as a tribute to the test of time. A miller demonstrates the process of grinding corn into cornmeal. Cornmeal and other mill-related items are available for purchase at the mill.

Nice capture... looks good in sepia. I made a special trip there on Wednesday and a large park ranger truck was parked right in the center of view.... they were doing repairs to the turbine, so no photos for me. #1542481
