I like it Beth! Wonderful color and detail. I like the flow of the individual fern branches too as well as the dark BG. Is this a flash shot? #1541954

Yeah, this is excellent, Beth! I assume this was before the fall? #10821792

very nice capture Beth, I like the contrast of the green against the black. but I think there is a different crop in it. center top where the top of the leaves are in 4x6 5x7 to the middle #10821832

I like this very much, Beth. I radiates a sense of peacefulness. Lovely work! #10822082

Wonderful colors. As Mike said, very nice flow in the lines. I will be interested in seeing the crop suggestion. The negative space in the upper right, and some of the conflicting lines along the bottom margin may be weakening the composition. #10822643

Thanks everyone, and yes Jeff it was before the fall! I cropped this as Rita suggested, I am not sure I got what she had in mind. I used a color effex Pro 4 filter on this and I think it was the darken lighten center. It was early evening. I am posting the one without the filter to show the difference, I did not use a flash. #10823014

Ditto on the above statements, Beth. Love the contrast of the green and black. Lots of good crops available here, so just pick the one you like and it will be a winner. #10823415

I like the crop. It eliminated some interesting but probably extraneous content and cleaned up the bottom but as presented I see two problems.

One is that with the magnification we lost the crispness. Did you crop the original, or did you crop the JPG used for the upload?

The other is that the square crop lost the spotlight effect of the lighting which was what really "made" this picture. You probably need the extra content on the left (from a 5x7 crop) and to reapply the spotlight effect from the filter to fit the new crop.

the original is very good. You don't really have to change anything. #10823426

I think the first one is prefect! I love the greens against the black background. Beautiful! #10824359

I love the original. It is one of my favorites! I love what the filter did-I'll have to keep that one in mind. It give it a dreamy feel, like there is more to those ferns than meets the eye. #10826077

Thanks everyone! I think I really like the original the best. I appreciate all the feedback #10827178

I too love the original! Love the lush greens and the graceful "movement" of each individual fern and then the group as a whole. #10850584
