Bowenfels Station Masters Cottage.
Uploaded: July 04, 2013
I found this wonderful old sandstone building on one of my early morning walks on my visit to Lithgow last week. It is The Station Master House for the Bowenfelds Railway Station, and was built alongside the station in 1869. The station was abandoned in 2004, and it didn’t take long for the vandals to start breaking the windows, and they even burned down a kitchen annex attached to the building. During its chequered career the building has been a private residence, a restaurant called Cadies, the local tourist information centre and storage shed. The yard has been cleaned up, and surrounded by a vandal proof fence together with floodlighting in an attempt to preserve and keep the old building safe and intact. It is available for a new life, possibly as an art gallery, café or tea rooms.
Captured about ½ an hour before sunrise on a cold wet winters morning, at 1/15th of a second, f3.5 and ISO-3200.
Exif: F Number: 3.5, Exposure Bias Value: 0.00, ExposureTime: 1/15 seconds, Flash: did not fire., ISO: 3200, White balance: Auto white balance, FocalLength: 18.00 mm, Model: NIKON D90
