On a Shoe String

Description

---
These days, it seems no matter where you go, if you look up at power wires, you're bound to see a pair of dangling sneakers! I do not know the meaning of this peculiar practice.
----
This is a little different. The shoes do not have laces, and they are hanging from a light fixture attached to a building wall at a construction (or reconstruction) site on Samson Street in Center City, Philadelphia.
----
Bill and I were wearing our Tribune Press badges when a handsomely-attired tall man strode over to us, and said he'd just been having lunch with the owner of the newspaper! We had an hour-long conversation with him--a Philadelphia-born Baptist pastor who had just moved back from Hollywood, where he had been (and still is) intricately involved with motion picture production.

Nice... Takes me back many years. There are many different meanings to different groups.

One time when I posted a photo of sneakers on a phone line in a neighborhood street I got several comments telling me this is a sign of gang or drug activity nearby (which given the location didn't seem logical to me). Who knows? But you've got a really neat photo! #10725954
