Note: This image was originally shot with a Fuji 670 medium format camera using Fuji 6x7 transparency film. The sunset was a separate image added to this. This sand sculpture was built by my friend Gerry Kirk, of www.sandworld.com. This is just the top of it - it was 64 feet high and set a Guiness record for tallest sand sculpture. The theme was "The Lost City of Atlantis". The top of the castle represents a space ship. #1271337

Thanks Merna. I drove down to San Diego a couple of times during the month it took to construct this. Unfortunately, shortly after it was done they had to tear it down for safety reasons. I have a lot of photos of it. This particular image was Gerry's favorite. I will post some others. #8629456

I'm amazed at the details of this "sand sculpture". I especially enjoy the view point, looking past the winged sphinx towards the top and the stunning sky; my eye moves and is drawn to the top. Great focus and very well done.
