Iām back!It may take me a bit to catch up. I spent the last month pretty much disconnected, a very refreshing sabbatical from all things electronic. I caught up on my reading and of course got over my pneumonia. I have lots of email to sort through and of course I need to catch up on all things Phello. I should be on regularly again now so it should not take me too long before I am back in the thick of things. Hope all is well with the group and all of you.
Along with not getting on line, I have not picked up my camera either. This shot is from 2009.

Even though it's from 2009, it's still a stunning photograph, Mike!Rita K. Connell January 26, 2013
Its so good to have you back I was just thinking about calling to see how you were doing, cause we hadn't heard anything from you. glad you are feeling better. well this is another one of your shot with beautiful clarity. I only dream of having one like this. I think we are all in the same boat about looking in our stock pile its not like I don't have 80,000 just on my computer. ugh!!! great shot! #10539161Kristin Duff January 27, 2013
Glad you are feeling better...this is a lovely shot and I appreciate all the texture of their wings! #10539872Dale Hardin January 27, 2013
Mike, so good to hear you are back up and feeling better. Missed you. And now that you're on the mend, don't forget to start planning for the Phellos meet this year in Utah.Love this shot and it's clarity and DOF. One of your best. #10539888

Agreed! Love the colors and textures in this one! Welcome back, I hope you are feeling better! #10540313Teresa H. Hunt January 27, 2013
Glad you're back!! This is a beautiful photo! The color and texture are amazing. Though the bird looks a little cross about having his picture taken. :) #10540612Michael Kelly January 27, 2013
Thank you Susan ā glad to see you back too. Thanks Rita, I am finally feeling 100% again. I have passed up a few shooting opportunities over the last month but it is cold and miserable here and I just have not had the will to get out the equipment, so I agree it will be some older shots for a bit.
Thanks Kristin, I think these birds are very photogenic which helps a lot.
Thank you Dale ā I am glad you like this guy/gal. They sure make good models.
I am planning on going to Utah and Sherry will be coming with me. Looking forward to seeing as much of the gang as possible again this year.
Thank you Elaine ā hope you all forgive the slow start back as I have so much catching up to do.
He does look a bit on the angry side now that I look at the expression more closely. Thanks for the kind words Teresa.

I am glad you are feeling better and it is great to see you back! I love the texture and color on this picture. It is almost like you can feel the feathers, great details! Glad you are back!! #10543170Teresa H. Hunt January 29, 2013
Oh I hope I can make it to Utah, I'd love to meet Sherry :) #10545066Dale Hardin January 29, 2013
You'll be there if I have to come up and get you. :o) #10545146Teresa H. Hunt January 29, 2013

Thanks Jeff - looking forward to a great get together. Thanks Beth - I am feeling great but not catching up as fast as I would like. My mother-in-law was admitted to the hospital with the same crud I had (which I think is the nasty flu turned into pneumonia) so we have been busy dealing with that.
Hope so too Teresa - I know Sherry is looking forward to it also. Sounds like a very busy schedule that you have going but a few days off shooting with us other nuts can only help. #10551239

MIke - it is SO good to have you back with us. Pneumonia is no fun at all. LIke Rita, I have been thinking about you lately, but I am notoriously bad at making phone calls.I love this image and am sure it will go farther in the contest. I would also like to see this cropped in much closer to eliminate the background; with a square or even a vertical crop. I am certain that you have enough pixels to carry this off. Because most of the picture is about the coloration of the birds themselves, I find that my eye goes off in the direction of the dark spot. Just a thought. I am being a rebel tonight. Plus I just went to a photo critiquing session and got a lot of good ideas.
It's way past my bedtime so I am going to turn off the computer and call it a night. I'll be stopping in again to see more of everyone's threads. #10552648

Every thing the others have said Mike but sorry it has taken so long to welcome you back. Weather doesn't usually affect me but although we have had a couple of very warm days since Christmas there have been too many grey ones with temperatures well below freezing and I am not my usual cheery self. However I am very glad you are now feeling so well Mike. #10553945Brandi K. Mills February 04, 2013
When I saw the smaller version I was thinking the bird looked sweet, but after I clicked on it he's a little more intimidating =)Michael Kelly February 05, 2013
Thank you Debbie - good to be well and back. Still catching up on things all over. It is amazing the junk that piles up when you take a month off. Here is a square version per your suggestion though it does not totally eliminate the BG I do like it.Thank you Peter. I get that winter blues feeling too and like you just want to hibernate. That is without being sick. Warmer and brighter here for the last few days and I can feel my energy coming back.
Thank you Brandi - he has that "if looks could kill" aspect about him doesn't he. #10554873
