How was it POSSIBLE?

Description

---
Shooting the Fancy Brigades (One of the Mummers' competitions in Philadelphia on New Year's Day)finale competition, we sat on the floor, directly in front of the audience, which occupied chairs and bleachers.

The show, with all its color and constant blaring, music, came within inches of our cameras and the Mummers played to us.
----
This photo was taken at 6:47 p.m., halfway through the show. Probably the boy had been outdoors reveling in the fresh, cold air, watching the parade for most of the long day with his friends and family.
---
Though the blaring music was deafening, and the room seemed to writhe under our poor, old butts, this little boy (two rows behind us), who had been bright-eyed at 5 p.m., missed most of the evening fun!
-----
I twisted my upper torso around to capture audience shots. For this one, The 70-200 F2.8 lens was on the 5D,M3. (F5.6, 1/200s, ISO:6400, @70mm)

He was a trooper! I bet you are right, Michelle. That was likely one very long day for him. I used to work in a mall for a time and I always felt sorry for the cranky crying kids. It was nap time and they should have been at home sleeping but busy moms and dads do what they have to do so the kids get dragged along!

This would have been a major (very exciting) event for this family?!!!!

Great reporting!

Great candid, Michelle! I can relate. Found myself napping through a very loud NFL game recently. But then again, it was a Charger game. To your question, no Topaz. Just brought down the vibrance and saturation in Lightroom. #10505868
