I like it Rita. Nice clear portrait shot. Good tones and the BG, though light, works well giving the shot a backlit feel. I also like the ofset of your subject in the frame which makes the shot less formal and adds interest and a bit of diagonal comp even in this very tight shot. #1500225

This is really pretty Rita. I like it too. Although for some reason, my eye is drawn to the background, not sure why. The lighting on her face is very nice and I agree, I like the composition too. #10433039

I agree that the background is a bit distracting, perhaps if you cleaned out the green so it was just white? #10433141

And there we go Rita; I waited just long enough for someone else to complain about the green. Now I can just say "Pretty lady, nice expression and agree with Mike". #10434157

I like the pose and nicely balanced tones Rita. The major distraction is the background and it's a tough one to fix.

First I would suggest removing the color cast and adding a bit of high pass to the eyes. Just a tad.

I love back lighting but this isn't quite working though you could tone it down a lot by using the change color tool and reducing it's intensity. The hard part is removing the distracting background without messing with the hair.

Another option is a tight 4x6 vertical crop so that her left eye is at the upper right ROT cross point and the crop not extending past her hair. #10434301

thank you everyone, I appreciate your suggestion. this is my daughter Julie,

ok I clean-up the background, sharpen her eyes alittle. but sorry dale I just didn't like the crop. #10435067

Dale Hardin November 27, 2012

Nice job Rita. I didn't like the crop either but only offered it as an option if you were unable to fix the background. #10435330

Rita -- I think your original image is much better than the reworked one. There is more life in it and it just looks better to me. She is a very pretty girl and I t honk you did a wonderful job with filling the frame. Is this your daughter by any chance? #10436004

Teresa H. Hunt November 27, 2012

Wonderful portrait Rita. I like the edited image. I didn't find the background distracting, but I think the image is better without it. #10436005

thank you Dale, Debbie, and Teresa, I really don't know which I like better. the only thing with just the white its just blends into the background on BP maybe it needs a stroke around the top but I haven't done that for so long I forgot how to .....help anyone I know its easy!

Yes Debbie this is my daughter, she is the one that will be moving back to col springs in the summer of 14 which means we will get to see each other two or three times a year. #10436065

I am so excited for you to be here so we can go gallivanting to some of my stomping grounds. Have you been to the top of Pikes Peak? The kids and I went up there a couple of days ago and it was amazing. 62 degrees in the Springs, and freezing at the top of the Peak. Will put up one of my pictures after this last challenge one.

Your daughter is very pretty and photogenic =) I like both images, but prefer the edited one. There was something about the first that was distracting to me as well. #10438333

Aimee C. Eisaman November 29, 2012

A very lovely portrait although the green does bother me, but not in the same way that it does the others. I could care less about it being in the background...the fact that it seems to be on her hair is what I find distracting. The problem will be if it also is yellow. Try using your saturation layer and desaturate only the green channel and see what happens.

My other suggestion for this would be a white gradient fill. Create a fill layer under layers and select graident. Once you okay the name of the layer you will see some options along with sliders If you already had your two color boxes on the left side panel set to white you won't need to worry about that. Set the style to radial and scale to 150%. Once you have done this and clicked okay set the blend mode for this layer to soft light and adjust the opacity to taste. :~) #10438339

Rita K. Connell level-classic November 29, 2012

thanks Brandi and Aimee I knew you would help me with green. so here is both suggestions. tell me which looks best #10438482

Aimee C. Eisaman November 29, 2012

I think the last one with the fill light looks best, but I still think you need to go further to fix the color issues in the hair and at the edges of the hair. If you destaurated the green all the way that means what is left is most likely yellow, but you can't do a global adjustment or her face will turn grey. I suggest doing a saturation adjustment with a masking layer so you can desaturate the yellows selectively in only the spots where it is too much. #10438490

Very good advice Aimee. #10438565
