Golden Lion Tamarin

Uploaded: October 21, 2005

Description

Photographed at the National Zoo, Washington, DC with a Nikon D100 and Nikkor 100-300mm zoom lens, settings unknown. Image cropped and adjusted with levels and unsharp mask in Photoshop CS. A colony of golden lion tamarins roam the grounds of the National Zoo. Smaller than squirrels they can be hard just to spot, forget photographing. This one found a spot of light in a tree and remained there long enough for me to grab this pic.

Thanks Karen. Even getting a good look at these tiny guys is tough. I've gone on many zoo trips and never spotted one. I was lucky this fellow not only paused for the photo but reasonably lit in the wooded area he was inhabiting. #1980781
