Roping

Uploaded: September 04, 2012

Description

A cowboy has a calf cornered and is about ready to rope it and drag the calf to the branding fire. Calf wrestlers will hold the calf on the ground while being branded. The roper will rope another calf. The action at a branding is fast and fierce, with many ropers dragging calves to the fire and through all the wrestlers holding calves on the ground. Quite a few wrecks happen at brandings. Adjusted in PSE7. Photographed in Medora, North Dakota on 5-10-2008 at 12:28 p.m.

Wonderful catch, Lyle. I thought branding had been totally replaced by colored "paint!" #1484613
