Well done Dennis! I love the silhouette with the Milky Way. Crisp, clean, and well composed. #1483959Dennis Behm September 01, 2012

Thank you Arthur. #10305083Susan Williams September 02, 2012
A very striking image, Dennis. Capturing the Milky Way is always impressive and you've done outstanding work here. Adding the silhouette of the tractor touches my heart, having grown up in Wisconsin, where there is an abundance of farmland and clear skies. Very creative and excellent work. #10305330David Resnikoff September 03, 2012
Dennis,Fantastic shot.
How did you calculate the time of exposure?

Dennis Behm September 03, 2012
Thank you Susan. This was my second attempt shooting the Milky Way, and it is much better than my first. However, I think there is still room for improvement. See my response to David, below. #10306554Dennis Behm September 03, 2012
Thank you David. I looked back through my images in Lightroom to refresh my memory. I wasn't sure what exposure to use, so I took several images, all at f/4. I started with 20 sec at ISO 3200, and increased to the exposure of this image at 30 sec and ISO 5000. On the computer I saw that this exposure had a lot of noise, so I used the strongest setting available in Topaz Denoise. I plan to rent a faster lens when I travel to Colorado and New Mexico next month; hope to get some better images (assuming the Milky Way is visible). #10306575Gary R. Smith September 03, 2012
