Rescued Baby Robin [Cardinal Birds Woodpeckers & other Yard Birds]
Uploaded: August 03, 2012 15:29:03
I found this little baby Robin nestling under one of my trees and determined it was too young to be a fledgling. I checked the local animal rescue site on what to do and it said to first look for the nest and if able to place it back, do so. I found a nest and did that but it was out of the nest the next morning again and I realized this must not have been the nest, since that bird was sitting on eggs. Next instruction: Make a makeshift nest and fasten it to the tree out of harms way, and watch for Mom to come back and feed it...I did that with an old flower basket and bungee cord...worked great, but no mom returned. I then called the Rehabilator and she took the baby. I took this picture before I dropped it off at her house. She called me after three weeks and said the baby is doing wonderfully and is now weaning the bird off the food and getting it to eat for itself....she took it to work with her every day to feed it.

I'm so pleased you went to all that effort to save this baby robin's life. It would definitely not have survived without your intervention. This is a fantastic capture of it with its mouth wide open looking for food. #1478582Gerri R. Jones August 03, 2012
Thanks Ann! I give all the credit to the Rehabilitator...she was very dedicated to feed it constantly in place of the mother. :) #10261647Liz blahh August 03, 2012
