The history of Fort Boreman, Parkersburg, West Virginia, isn't clear; but it seems to have originated during the Civil War (West Virginia didn't become a state until 1863). The fort was named for Arthur I. Boreman, a Parkersburg resident who became the first governor of the new state. The views from the top of the hill were wonderful, though! We'll be gone for most of today gathering material for a couple of articles on which deadlines are looming. TGIF, everyone!

The history behind the sight is a joy to read and adds to the beauty of the picture. I love your composition behind the fence, looking down on the river, and then that dramatic beautiful sky. Gorgeous colors and clarity my friend. #10261510Nancy L. Green August 03, 2012

Superb landscape composition, Monnie! Love how the river bends, the weathered wood fence and soft colors. Beautifully composed and thanks for the history lesson! #10264223Sign up for an interactive online photography course to get critiques on your photos.
