After the Glory [Water Lily & Lily Pad Pictures]

The seed head of a spent lotus, from behind. For such lovely, delicate-seeming flowers, I'm always surprised by the heavy-duty structure.

Nice POV from the side we don't generally see. I like the crisp details, including the little bumps on the stem. #10233094Julianne Bradford July 17, 2012
That is an interesting side of this flower. No wonder it's known for it's persistant perserverance thrrough the dregs of muck and mire up to the surface and then to blossom. I guess that's why the hindus used it as a meditation symbol. Nice work Chris! #10233196JO ANN CLEVELAND July 17, 2012

Well done capture of a unique perspective of this flower. #10233957Chris Budny July 18, 2012
Thanks so much, folks! I like the "final stage" of the lotus cycle almost as much as the beautiful blooming stage; these seed heads are so strongly graphical and structural.Cynthia M. Wiles July 25, 2012
