Pompeii's Victim
Uploaded: June 15, 2003
Mt. Vesuvius destroyed everything in its path, covering homes and their inhabitants in hot lava and ash. Strangely, these people are now on display in glass cases which struck me as quite odd, if not grotesque. Taken in Pompeii, Italy.

I think you captured something we don't see everyday. I find it facinating, history frozen in time. #40267Alishya M. Kovalevych May 26, 2019
Thank you Jane & Brinn! I always find it the oddest, and yet most captivating, scene when people like this are displayed (whether they be the people of Pompeii or unwrapped mummies). Makes me wonder about life and our fascination with things we don't understand... #118967Alishya M. Kovalevych May 26, 2019
Ah, yes. 'Inside the box'. A strange, but true concept that I've also been hearing much about lately. It's funny how when you start taking pictures, you just take ones you think are pretty or interesting and then people start telling you about being 'inside the box' or 'outside the box'. Hehe, I suppose that life only gets stranger by the minute! Thank you for your comments! #119331Sign up for an interactive online photography course to get critiques on your photos.
