Anderson Monarchs Baseball Club

Getting ready for a 21-city road trip, this young athlete and his team have just had their photos taken on the refurbished antique bus that will be their home away from home on their tour.
------
[from their website]: The Anderson Monarchs Baseball Club, named after the Kansas City Monarchs, the most famous of Negro League teams, was established in 1995. The teams grew out of the Jackie Robinson Baseball League at the Marian Anderson Recreation Center in South Philadelphia. As the only predominantly African American club to compete in the best leagues and tournaments in the area, the Monarchs have, like Jackie Robinson, broken down barriers and shattered stereotypes wherever they’ve competed. Their hard work, disciplined style of play, and unprecedented success has completely reshaped the common perception of inner city kids and baseball.

If this one doesn't move right up the finalist ladder and into the winners circle, I'll be dumbfounded. This is just excellent photography, Michelle. The lighting and your exposure and processing is so spot on, it looks like it was done in a studio! Brilliant! #10195713Lorna Shutter June 23, 2012
