Remembering [Love and Companionship]

I took this last year on Memorial Day at The Virginia Veterans Cemetery..while I was taking some shots of a grave site, this veteran came up to this grave site... put his crutches down and visited the grave. I was so moved and wanted to take some photos of this Marine, But did not want to intrude on his visit. I stepped back out of the way and wanted to so badly take some photos of this moment. I decided it would be best for me to move to another site and let this Marine have his time alone with his friend...I was far enough away but could still see him, wishing for all the world that I had my long lens...after a long while the man got up from his position, put his crutches back on his arms and stood against a tree. He could see me and watched me for a small while, then he proceeded to walk on some rough terrain to come see me...He approached me and asked if I would take some photos of him and his friends grave...which I did so gladly

Moving story Wanda. You did great job of honoring and respecting the moment. Did you give a copy of the photo to the Marine? I'm sure he and his friend would love it. #1466165Wanda Judd May 30, 2012
