Carol, I've been away from the contest for months, so I've likely missed many of your entries. When I clicked on page 9, and saw Justin's face, I knew instantly who he was: older, but still Justin all over! I'm so digging the hair. This is an EXCELLENT portrait, and borders on an old master's painting! Super well done! #1465969

Hi James! I sure hope you weren't away because you were ill, but glad to know you are back enjoying Betterphoto again! I, too, have not been on a lot...lots has gone on in the past 8 months, and I have been working a lot so not much time for photography. I realized I didn't enter even 1 photo for April! Justin will be glad to hear that someone likes his hair. He asks me all the time, but he says I always say it looks good so I don't think he takes much stock in my opinion. His grandma thought he had too much hair, but I told her that the kids here wear their hair all kinds of ways...short, long, mohawk, etc. When it gets so long he can't do anything with it, he'll want it cut. In the meantime, I told my mom that it saves me money on a haircut. This day he washed it and toweled it dry and he liked the wild look. I thought it looked good too. This was the last photo I was able to keep him still for and it was taken in the garage with the wall for a BG. Glad he let me get that "one more!" He isn't so great about letting me take them anymore, so I am glad when I get the chance! #10160028

Hi Neal! Yes, this is my 16 yr old son. He is an only child, and I had him later in life. Most people my age have grandchildren already! Also, I went to college late in life, just graduating in 2005. I won't tell my age, but I was in my 30's when I had Justin, and he was almost 3 when I began college. I have truly enjoyed being an older mom. Justin's photo is in my gallery several times so many people on here have watched him grow up. He isn't as keen on posing for me anymore (I have to threaten to make him pay for photos at JC Penny) to get him to allow me to take a few pics, but this time he volunteered because he liked how his hair turned out. :) I took advantage (quickly) to get a few shots before he said enough! And thanks so much for your kind comment! I hope you enjoy BP for years to come! #10162393

Hi, Carol,

A note to Justin: Justin, it is not an
easy thing for young people to realize when they have cool parents, but take it from me, your Mom is one of the coolest. At 15, it is difficult to imagine that someday you are going to come to her and say, "Mom, I just didn't know how great you really were," but I'm betting that is exactly what will happen. To make it less of a challenge when that time comes, when she asks you to pose, give a sigh (if you must), put that Justin smile on your face, and give her a few minutes (or an hour) of your time. You know what an awesome photographer she is, I'm sure (all you have to do is look at the pix of her favorite model--a very handsome young man--as well as all the scenes she has captured from EVERYWHERE). Each time you stop and pose for her, just think of it as another vivid and heartwarming memory the two of you are logging in together for the future. Just as I believe in her, I believe in you. P.S. You are ROCKING that hair, Mister! #10164538

I called Justin in to read your comment, which gave him a smile for the day. Thanks! #10172435

Carol when I first saw this photo, I had to do a double take. First of all let me say that it is a beautifully done portrait. Secondly (and the reason for the double take) this looks almost like me at age 16..... wow! #10209031

Danny, thank you so much for your kind comment! Wow, so you looked a lot like that in high school...I would love to see an old photo of you if you have one around. That would be awesome to show Justin. If you don't want to post it on BP, you can contact me and I can give you my email address. I hope you have one around! Thanks again! #10211630

I will have to look for my old Boaz High Yearbook and try to scan one. I think it is at my office. #10211913

Carol! Hi !!!!!!!!!!!! OM GOSH! It's good to see you!!!

Where are you now? What state??? Still the same one as last we hung out?

I cant believe how grown up Justin is now! WOW! He's a looker!!!! (But what is new there? He always was!)

And that hair! Wow! It's wild and free and fun and very original. The only way to be!!!

I am so glad he isn't doing the shaved head thing. A man has to enjoy his hair while he has it. There is plenty of time to grow older and more streamlined! HeeHee...(And men attached to this thread still, I must confess that I, too, have lost lots of hair as I have aged, so you are not alone if you have, too!!! (Disclaimer there!!)

What a joy to visit your gallery tonight.

I'll stay attached and hope to hear from you soon. :)

I got a few finalists today so at the moment my box is swamped but I will keep a keen eye out for yours to me. :) !!

Love, Laura :D #10253828
