Description

He finally allowed me to take a couple quick photos. I was using a new (to me) camera and lens so it is a bit of a learning curve for me. I am not even sure about my settings because I didn't have time to ck (he was rushing me), and I am not familiar enough with the camera yet to quickly change things.

Exif: F Number: 7.1, Exposure Bias Value: 0.00, ExposureTime: 1/80 seconds, Flash: reserved, ISO: 125, White balance: Auto white balance, FocalLength: 43.00 mm, Model: E-3

Fantastic portrait #1465166

Carol, I like his expression in this one (even if it is saying, "Mom! Not again!"), and the tree adds great texture to the photo. But, I love the portrait with the plain background because it shows off his hair so grandly. Well done! #10158782

Thanks so much Neal and James! James, I like his expression in this one too; he has that little half-smile, and I like the devilish look in his eyes. But you are right about the hair not showing up as good; in fact, it kind of blends in with the tree. I might have gotten a bit more blurred BG but I was shooting at F7.1. It was only the 2nd time I have used the new camera, and while it is an Oly too, it has a lot more buttons than mine, and they are in slightly different places. I didn't have time to hunt how to use it because I knew Justin wouldn't wait around! The lens is a really good lens, 14-54mm 2.8-3.5 and should be a really good portrait lens. I told you in the other discussion (other portrait) that I have not been shooting much myself, but hopefully we are heading to AL/TN around June 11th so I hope to get some nice shots while there. I haven't been to the Smokies (with a camera) when everything is green, so I think it will be really nice. Guess I'll take both cameras in case I don't learn the settings on the new one, so I can at least use the new lenses on the old camera. #10160041

You are doing FINE with the new camera. No doubt, you'll know it back and forward by the time you head North (actually, that sounds funny--heading NORTH to Alabama, the Heart of Dixie). I'm looking forward to seeing your shots from the Smokies! And enjoy the trip! #10164748
