David - statement from Helicon:

"Helicon Focus is a program that creates one completely focused image from several partially focused images by combining the focused areas."

By using F8 or F11, which yields the sharpest image on any given lens, you can creat a much sharper image with great depth of field, by "focus stacking". Need to be sure and use a tripod and have a subject that isn't moving.
