 Looking Out...A Slave's Perspective

Uploaded: January 05, 2012

Description

AV 10.0, TV 1/60, ISO 250, Canon EF24-105mm f/4L IS USM, 24.0mm Focal Length. This was the house slave's quarters at Boone Hall Plantation in Mt. Pleasant, SC. The cook lived in this small one room cabin. Boone Hall was a cotton plantation, but also a brickyard. There are approximately 6 brick slave cabins (built for adverstisement) along the front oak/moss lined sand drive. The rest of the (300) slaves at one time didn't live in brick cabins which often held 3 to 4 families. Even though life was dark within, there were always a few rays of sunshine/hope that lived inside their hearts.

Exif: F Number: 10, Exposure Bias Value: 0.00, ExposureTime: 1/60 seconds, Flash: did not fire, compulsory flash mode, ISO: 250, White balance: Manual white balance, FocalLength: 24.00 mm, Model: Canon EOS 7D

Thanks Tammy and Jeff for the kind words. And Jeff, thank you for calling this a "storytelling image." That's special to me. #9903690
