Powder Puff Tree

Uploaded: December 01, 2011

Description

This small tree is a member of the mimosa family. Named Powder Puff or Calliandra tree. This is a rare find. The berry like green to red buds are future puffs. Red ponpoms are made up of long silky stamens.
I spotted this small tree in Ajijic, Mexico while on an afternoon tour of town square.

Hi Diane: What a great combination, Berries and the red pom-pom. I love it and the detail on the red flower is amazing. Merna #1427187
