Negative Space: Bird on a Lamppost

Uploaded: November 23, 2011 11:58:02

Description

I guess I'm on a black and white kick this week... I exposed this very high contrast shot to get a silhouette of the bird against a blown out white sky, with the backlighting bringing out the texture of the lamp. The bird and the lamp are balanced by the negative space of the white background. I considered flipping the bird around in Photoshop so that this showed looking into the frame as well, but I felt like it worked better for this photo for the bird to be looking away.
