Union Pacific passing SHUMLA Station

Uploaded: July 09, 2011

Description

SHUMLA station is now abandoned but was located about a half mile away from where the Eastern half and the Western half of the Southern Pacific Railway met during the construction. A special spike is there. Union Pacific bought out Southern Pacific years ago. Posted this for Stan K.

Remember standing at the side of the RR tracks in NE Ohio as a kid waiting for that far-off telltale rumble and knowing one was going to pass soon - such excitement! You never quite outgrow that feeling...beautiful pano crop, details, colors and a wonderful expansive view...and I can still hear the rumble in my memory, Emile! :) #9520055
