Description

Animals - June 2011

Even though the leather coral lacks a brain, eyes, heart and spine, it is still an animal...
Corals are related to sea anemones and sea jellies. Corals can sting their food using cells located on their tentacles. Most of the leather coral's food comes from an algae living within it's body.
To me, the leather coral looked very comforting... (like a warm soft furry blanket.)
It is the brown top portion and the middle brown spread- just in case you were not sure where it is.
