The Big Drink

Uploaded: September 03, 2005

Description

Elephants at the Chobe River on the Northern border of Botswana. Namibia is on the other side of the river.
The elephants have to come down to the river every day to drink and every day they then have to return to where they can eat. At different times of the year this can be near or far. When we were there they had to walk all the way back to the other side of the tarred road which seemed like 6 to 7 miles. It is very hard for the little ones and often they don't survive.

Thanks Bill, Susan and Darren. I have actually re-entered this as I have cropped it as suggested by Christian Nicolas keeping to the rule of thirds. Thought I could sneak it in and not show it in my gallery. But thanks so much for noticing and commenting! #1800396
