Description

The Hippo (means River Horse in Ancient Greek language) appears to be very docile but in reality these are one of the most dangerous animals in Africa. They can out-run humans and they have been clocked upwards of 30km/h or about 19mph!! This guy is even sporting a little 5 o'clock shadow!

He looks so lazy, but I know they aren't from watching animal shows. I don't think I'd want him after me. #1358199

I was going to say what a cute shot but the hippo would probably be offended at being labelled "cute" but I think what he is doing is cute, with those eyes just sticking out above the water line. Yes, I think as you say they look docile but an animal you would definitely need to keep some distance between you. Another one of your fantastic images Jeff. #9274913
