Rays And Rainbows
Uploaded: February 28, 2011
I shot this in my front yard last week. Since the sun was behind me, I couldn't figure out where the rays were coming from, so I emailed Ken Smith, who sent it to a weather guy. Turns out they are anti-crepuscular rays..caused by the same water droplets that cause the rainbow to appear. I was glad to hear the explanation. Thanks, Ken!

Awesome capture, and great research! You used one of my favorite words (crepuscular) so I'm now looking for the rubber ducky! Seriously, you hae a great capture of a rare (?) natural phenomenon! Were you just guessing that Ken would know a weather guy? #9265348Gord MacEachern February 28, 2011
