What better way to spend the time waiting for your wife to finish her shopping on a hot Aussie summer day than to sit in the dappled shade of a spreading tree and read the newspaper sports section?
Shot from my seat at the Crèma Espresso Bar, the very best coffee shop in my home town of Port Macquarie, NSW, Australia.
Canon EOS 40D & Canon USM 100-300mm Lens: RAW, f/5 @ 1/200sec, 145mm, ISO 100, TTL pop-up flash, Hand held.
Lightroom 2.2 & Photoshop CS3.
Enjoy!
Exif: F Number: 5, Exposure Bias Value: 0.00, ExposureTime: 1/200 seconds, Flash: fired, compulsory flash mode, ISO: 100, White balance: Manual white balance, FocalLength: 145.00 mm, Model: Canon EOS 40D

THE MAKING OF 'What's Next?':It was another Wednesday morning get together with my Port Macquarie Panthers Camera Club when we slurp our mugs of coffee, sometimes eat cake, talk about photography and solve the world's problems.
On this occasion it was almost a candid shot desert then not long before we were to leave I noticed this gentleman sit under the tree and begin to read the paper. With my camera at the ready I kept a close eye on him waiting for a useable shot. I had just about given up when the man turned on his bench, raised the paper and struck this pose. I could not have directed it better.
As the light was extremely bright out in the open, my subject was in shade and I was close enough for my pop-up flash to offer some fill light, the end result was a really good exposure overall. The f/5 aperture is the widest my lens will allow at that focal length so I had switched to aperture priority and let the camera set the shutter speed to get the very best flash exposure.
Enjoy!
