~ An Exceptional Daisy ~
Uploaded: February 03, 2011
Dedicated to
RN Dixie Turner
who recently received the coveted "Daisy Award" for her humaneness, kindness, dedication and professionalism, a large part of which was patching me up in an Emergency Room on October 23, 2010. The DAISY Award is a nation-wide program that rewards excellence in nursing. It was created to recognize the clinical skills, extraordinary compassion and care exhibited by nurses every day. DAISY Nurses have assessment skills so acute that they spot the tiny changes in a patient's symptoms or behavior that monitors cannot detect, often leading to life-saving action. DAISY Nurses are on full-time duty, they are nurses in supermarkets, in restaurants at dinner with their families, on airplanes - intervening and caring for total strangers who are in trouble.
You have not lived a perfect day, even though you earned your money, unless you have done something for someone who will never be able to repay you.

Gorgeous daisies, Jim. I suspect you've already sent Dixie this post as a tribute to her and her colleagues. She should be in tears by now, if she has seen it! I know I would be.Fabulous photo and tribute. And I, for one, am so happy that she "patched you up" so well! Nice job, Dixie! #1349868

Beautiful tribute, Tex, to an extraordinary lady and nurse...every so often we are fortunate enough to run across such a person who is not only exceptional at what they do but carries it up to another level of keen instinctive and quick life-saving action entirely. Thank you, Dixie - not only for "patching up" our Mr. Jim up so well but for carrying that same professional and compassionate dedication in your heart and mind to all aspects of your everyday life - both in and out of the hospital setting...Hats off to you and congratulations on this much deserved award! #9210065Tammy M. What a beautiful dedication and capture, Jim. Doctors don't like to admit it but Nurses are the backbone of the hospitals. After working in one as an RN for many years I'm aure this is very much appreciated dedication and reward. They need to hear things like this more often. Thanks so much foe taking your time to do this for her and thanks to her for helping you out in your time of need. #9210107Ron McEwan February 03, 2011
