Description

I took this on a recent morning on the edge of the fog near Emigrant Lake which is just a couple miles from my house. The sun was filtering through the mist, frost was on the ground and geese were flying overhead.
The geese were brought in from another shot taken at the same time. I would have preferred to capture it all in one frame but shooting the scene on a tripod with a polarizer, small aperture and low ISO didn't allow me to pan with the geese and freeze their motion. I first shot the landscape then adjusted settings for the geese and photographed them as they flew by. While I categorize this as a photo illustration, I like the fact that I'm able to create images that represent my experience but couldn't be made in a single frame.
