A fine image with almost a graphic feel, Rona. I am struck by the fact they all face the same way. If I were a member of this flock, I would definitely face the other way. And who the hell counts that accurately? :)

Rona L. Schwarz November 20, 2010

Thank you Ellen, Deb and Steve! Yes, I always wondered how they do the counts - they post them regularly during the migration season, almost every week or so. I was struck by the pattern, too. I have seen and shot terns in Florida who face the same direction as well - I think it's because they face the wind. #9054453

Into the wind makes sense. Good for take off...bad for peeing though. :) #9054454
