1880 Oregon Pioneer home

Uploaded: October 15, 2010

Description

This 1880s Oregon Pioneer home has seen many changes in its lifetime. From the McEwen Overland Stage Co. and town of McEwen founded by Thomas McEwen, to the gold rush days of Sumpter and its dredges, to lumberman David Eccles's Sumpter Valley Railway Co. logging trains, all now just ghosts of the past. The stories it could tell.

I wonder if McEwen is a distant relative. When the early greats arrived in the USA, they changed the spelling of our family name ton (McEwan) don't know for sure since my family arrived down here out of Canada and the records burned. #8968779
