We Know We Can, We Know We Can

Uploaded: October 02, 2010

Description

Weather is one element which effects farmers. Living on the east coast we certainly have been effected by heavy rains. This past week we were only able to dig 51 acres compared to the 154 acres the week before. We are fortunate in one respect, we have most of our potato crop in storage. Many farmers are just getting started. Only 36 acres left. We are praying for no more rain and drying conditions.

I am one that knows how the weather can effect what farmers can get done in a day...either too wet or too dry...we are on the brink of being too dry for wheat planting. Although the dry weather here is good for our harvest, which is still going on, we have about 2500 acres yet to plant of winter wheat.
I wish the best for you and your family Roxanne!!! I will pray for a break in the coulds so you may finish your harvest! Terrific pano capture....beautiful countryside!!!!

It is hard to get it right with the weather for farmers. For Jeana I remember my grandpa saying plant it in the dust then you will have a rain to get it to sprout. Good luck. To much rain is not good for farmers at harvest time. Good luck to the both of you. We are having Indian Summer weather at the moment here. #8942467

I hear you, Roxanne! I grew up on the farm and for 7 years in a row our wheat was hailed out a few days before we were to harvest! The only thing that kept us going was the milk from the dairy cattle. Only 7 of them but it was enough!
This is a beautiful image with wonderful colors! :-) k #8943440
