Excellent EOD image Dale...I love the diagonal lines and the contrast between the uniformity of those lines against the random directionality of the strawberries...also think the grey and red colors compliment each other nicely...I think this would be a good bg to put some strawberry picking images on... #1298834Dale Hardin August 16, 2010
Thanks Tony. I was actually thinking shortcake and whipped cream myself. :o) #8839223Susan M. Reynolds August 16, 2010
I agree with Tony and this would most likely win in the EOD category...I'm thinking a cold strawberry smoothie!Dale Hardin August 16, 2010
Funny you should ask about strawberry field in So. Cal. Susan. More strawberries are grown here than about anywhere. One of my goals is to take a photo essay of field workers but it is very difficult because most are illegal and if you haul out a camera they all scatter and the boss gets very angry. #8841637Carla Capra Anderson August 17, 2010
I agree this is a very nice example for the EOD category. Nicely composed, I especially enjoy the angle. There is one strawberry that seems to be smiling (upside down); third box from right, in only fully photographed box, 2nd row up, center berry) :)Really a great image.

Yes, I too see the upside down smile! But I'm sure Dale can rotate it to make it right-side up!!! #8842866Dale Hardin August 17, 2010
Thanks Carla and Susan. Hey, don't all of you say "smile" when you're about ready to press the shutter? I do. :o) #8843222Peter W. Marks August 17, 2010
Can't decide whether this makes a better still-life or abstract so maybe you're right; it's just a very nice dessert but would be even better with Cornish clotted-cream not that woosy whipped stuff.Dale Hardin August 17, 2010
FOFL :o) Peter, You definitely credit me too much if you think I would knit a sweater for a baseball team. I'm probably the most non-sports enthusiast in the entire club. It's the only part of the newspaper I never read. Sorry about that. But ...... I have crocheted a lot of rugs in my day. I would love sit on one right now with a bowl of strawberries and your curtled (ooops, I mean clotted) cream. Truthfully it sounds good 'cause I remember the days of my youth when there really was true cream. We used to peel it off the top of the milk for our cereal. #8843636

Great EoD image, Dale. I can almost smell those wonderful berries. At the Broadmoor Hotel here in the Springs, they serve, upon special request a delicious berries and cream - and it's REAL and it is to die for! The representative from Jostens (supplier of senior's rings, announcements and what-have-you) takes all of us College/Career people to lunch there after graduation and it wouldln't be the start of summer without this wonderful dessert.Susan - Your eye is good. Had to look for the upside-down smile but not to difficult to find. #8843803
