This is a very fine low key portrait, Bunny, well-composed and interesting. I love the intent expression and pose and the somber mood created by the lighting is somehow perfect for the situation -- I feel as if I have walked into a darkened room to find him playing only for himself. Cool. #8817349

Thank you all for your comments.
Nikki, my husband was playing his guitar at night with his single reading light so we wouldn't trip over something. Your comment hit the nail on the head.

My challenge was finding a lens that was the right length and could open all the way to f2.8. This is generally used for macro, but tonight it was used as a portrait lens.

Thank you for commenting Kristy, Susie, and Amanda.
I had entered this last year and received an EP, but thought I'd try again since more was done to the image this time. #8821158

Tough choice for me this time, Bunny. Back and forth between the blue bird and this one but this one wins out -- I do love the low key effect -- lighting is superb. Making it my favorite of your August entries. #8876255
