"RED DOG" -Center of controversy

Uploaded: August 06, 2010

Description

~August Monthy Theme~ dedicated to John and Margaret Connolly
Did you know that the Australian Dingo is facing extinction? Due to its habit of attacking livestock and the vulnerability of sheep, dingoes
and other wild dogs are seen as a pest by the sheep industry and the resulting control methods normally run counter with efforts of conserving the Dingo.
I saw this wild red dog and his mate at the Hunter Valley zoo and although in a very pre-carious position managed to get a couple of shots blurring out the wire in the background. Have a great day. ~Pat and Graham

The Late Slim Dusty sings "Old Dingo" about the fate of this beautiful animal hunted for his hide.

Music not for the contest so will self destruct in 24 hours. ~Pat

Wow, Pat - what a fabulous dingo portrait here!! John and Marg will surely LOVE it!! I just love his eyes and concentrated, intent gaze...and I also love Slim's song!! :o) The words are so appropriate for your 'Centre of Controversy' theme!! ;o/

As the song says, the interbreeding with feral dogs is certainly one of the dingo's major threats...and a lot of us humans are to blame for that!! Too many are not being responsible dog owners - ie. not desexing non-breeding animals...and dumping/deserting unwanted puppies/adult dogs!! SO sad!! :o( #8812095

Thank you Pat and Graham, we both love our native dogs, and the song is really outstanding! This is a wonderful capture of this caged animal, to me they have such intelligent, expressive eyes! #8812394
