Lake Serene -- Mount Index Panorama

Uploaded: July 10, 2010

Description

About a year ago I was asked if I had any photos of Mount Index, so (since I did not have any) it was on my list. My opportunity came on the day after the 4th of July 2010, which was a Monday and a day off for me. I preplanned my route using Green Trails Map #142, noting that it was about 3 ½ miles in with approximately 1,700 feet in elevation gain. The day I left for my hike, the weather forecast was for the marine air to burn off in the afternoon and leave partly sunny skies. At the trailhead, which was packed full of cars, the bunched up overcast sky left room for some doubt, but the situation persisted until I made it to the lake. So I waited for my shot(s), hoping that I would not have to walk out in the dark. But then my window of opportunity came and I shot until the clouds rolled in again and covered up the mountain. Taken with a tripod using a homemade panoramic nodal bracket holding the DSLR (digital single lens reflex) camera vertically set at ISO 400 and f/8.

Exif: Flash: did not fire., ISO: 400, Model: DSLR
