These Civil War re-enactments are endlessly fascinating, Carol. This shot is so well composed, with "Old Glory" as the key element. #1274135

Thanks so much Mary! I usually go to this re-enactment each year. It is one of the biggest around FL. It is only about 3 miles from us. We can hear the cannons and guns at the house. I always enjoy it each year even though it is similar each time. Nice photo opps too. #8656502

Very well done! In the Civil War, the wounded suffered so horribly due to the crude and powerful weaponry of the time and the lack of battlefield hygiene with no-anesthetic amputation as the only way to fight infection. The casualties were higher than in any previous war. I weep at the images this photo evokes. #8656538

Michelle, Nancy and Jeff, so sorry to miss your kind comments! Michelle, I never cared for history when in high school; I barely passed it, but when I recently went to college as a non-traditional student, it was much more interesting. I learned about the Civil War, and it was a really sad time in history. #8769108
