When you’re on a shoot, it’s important to know the subject you’re stalking. For example, a nice gentleman was at the park yesterday. Armed with a giant telephoto-equipped SLR, he was happily shooting away as his subject posed nicely in a tree.He hadn’t been at it long when the Nikon Monster appeared, armed with her macro-equipped SLR. I won’t swear to it, but I think I heard him chuckle as he imagined her aiming those tiny 105mm upwards, valiantly hoping to return home with an image of something vaguely resembling a fuzzbutt.
To his utter dismay, his subject descended from his picture-perfect perch, and bolted straight over to the Nikon Monster (along with several of his furry compadres). The gentleman wandered around aimlessly, eyes green with envy, wincing with every click of her shutter.
Finally, he stomped off to his vehicle and drove away, no doubt mortified that his big equipment had been no match for her big….nuts.
For certain, he probably has a fine collection of wonderful squirrel images in their natural settings, but she has a warm and endearing collection of intimate portraits. And that’s because the Nikon Monster knows her subject well!
