Description

She has a habit of sitting just behind me. It's (literally!) a pain to twist around, so I slowly laid back on the sidewalk. She was no more than 18" from my head, and munched away as though she hadn't a care in the world.

That's a really nice pose, Tess. Squirrels are wonderful to watch. I love them, little seed theives that they are. :) #7945753

Tess L. Yee September 15, 2009 0

Thanks for the comment, Mitch! They don't need quite as many seeds when I'm around (thanks to the 1 pound bag of walnuts I carry every visit!). #7945773

You certainly have a innate understanding of these little fellows. Makes for great photos like this.

Love this gallery, makes me smile everytime! :) #7951729

Tess L. Yee September 18, 2009 0

Thanks for the wonderful comment, Eric!

Yes, my understanding is as follows: I'm a prey animal, so while I'm acclimated to humans, I don't really TRUST you! Don't move abruptly or make loud noises. Remember, I like nuts. I mean, yeah...I really LIKE nuts! :)

I'm glad they bring a smile to your face. They certainly do the same for me. #7953035

This little gal will chase me down to get nuts, and when there are no rowdy boys around, she will sit just to the side (and slightly behind me) to eat. #7956033

Gorgeous capture of your little furry friend. She has rewarded your treats with letting you take photos of her. Excellent work Tess. #7956489

Tess L. Yee September 20, 2009 0

Thank you for the wonderful comment, Ann! This sweet gal is one of two or three that simply walked up and 'begged' for a nut the first time they saw me. She is kind enough to sit beside me, allowing me to shoot her (with the macro, as she is much too close for the telephoto!). #7958369

What photographers do to get a good picture. A friend saw her G'son laying in the gutter, drove around the block, pulled up & was just going to phone the ambulance when he spotted her & waved. He was just getting down close to the ground to take a picture looking up of a nearby building. All that aside, this is a lovely close-up of your friend=^..^= #7964470

Tess L. Yee September 21, 2009 0

Thanks for those really terrific comments Tiia, Eugenio, Susan, & Chris! I love when they're close enough that I can hear them munching! #7965299

Back at squirrel central and me & that squirrel are having a face to face talk..
FauxBold says he wants you to switch to organic nuts only.
He must know my wife ;-} #7989068

Tess L. Yee September 28, 2009 0

Hahaha, Howard! Sure. Organic. But only if the squirrels agree to limit themselves to three nuts each, with five each for my favorites! On good weekends, I go through more than a pound of nuts! #7989772

Tess, the squirrel series just brighten my day as I am stuck here, snowed in, with the broken ankle. Beautiful pictures, funny comments, great story! #8371237

Tess L. Yee February 10, 2010 0

Thank you for the very kind comment, Joanna! I'm happy that they brighten your day (they certainly do that for me!). Hope the ankle heals quickly, and the snow melts soon! #8371308
