all laced up

I found a small softball in my yard that the neighbor kids lost. It was the size of a regulation hard ball, so took a few shots before returning it over the fence.

Just for fun, I grabbed my new point and shoot, the Sony RX-100, and stepped outside to see how it would do on macro shots. The macro setting didn't do so well in my opinion, because of the camera's choice of settings. So, I went to aperture mode instead and gave that a try. It worked much better.
All these shots are hand held and the detail the camera caught surprised me, but in a nice way. Glad I purchased this little pocket jewel. Here are a couple more samples. #1560673

Dale, great shots. I like the laces on the best. I can see the details in the ball itself. I was wondering if the photos looks a bit too "cool" in it's colors. Maybe not if it's an older ball and the laces are faded.Dale Hardin January 23, 2014 0
Thanks Kalena. Yes, this ball had been out in the weather all winter and was pretty faded and beaten up. It had seen a lot of play. #10954272Stephen Shoff January 24, 2014 0
Don't let the people on the FM forums hear you describe this little jewel as a "point n shoot". You might find yourself banned for life from the Alt forum. I do think you are going to have a lot of fun with something like this in your jacket pocket.I'm finding the same thing. I picked up an EOS-M with the 22mm prime lens attached when the price dropped out from under it a couple of months ago. its with me almost continually.
Oh yeah...the baseball picture is pretty good. #10954343

I was a little reluctant to call this a point and shoot, Stephen, but it does not have interchangeable lenses, so think it probably fits the description. But it does have a Zeiss 1.8-4.9 2X zoom lens that ain't too shabby. Plus all the normal MSAP etc settings, so I guess I can upgrade it from point and shoot. :o) #10954354Jeff E Jensen January 24, 2014 0
Very nice, Dale. I keep my PowerShot S120 with me most of the time. It's amazing what a good point and shoot can do. #10954398Anthony L. Mancuso January 24, 2014 0

Tony, Joy and Deb, thanks so much. I was missing so many shots, that a pocket camera became a have to have it. Very happy with this one. #10954841Liz blahh January 25, 2014 0

I have to wonder why your neighbour kids are afraid to come around and ask for their ball back, Dale - you seem such a nice man on the surface. :)Dale Hardin January 25, 2014 0
Thanks a lot Liz.Sherran, I always have fun. Thanks.
Peter, old friend. Ah yes, the neighbor kids and their ball. You have no idea how many of these, at all shapes and sizes, that I have thrown back. Sometimes they come to the door and ask, because I hadn't noticed the ball in the yard. Love to see kids having fun and just being kids. I envy them. #10955630
