I seem to remember that recently you said you were going to get out of that box and try different subjects with your photography. You surely have! Everything about this works Dale. Composition, color, the whole enchilada my friend! And you just know there's a dozen stories that would fit this image.
Excellent! #1544355

Dale Hardin September 13, 2013 0

Peter, I appreciate your comments immensely. This was shot in Mississauga, Canada in a park with a long lens. Took quite a few but have only just now looked at any of them. This was the first. #10842910

Jeff E Jensen September 14, 2013 0

Yup, this is really well done, Dale! Nice work. #10843094

Dale Hardin September 14, 2013 0

Thank you Jeff. #10843178

Rita K. Connell level-classic September 14, 2013 0

the only thing that would have made this better is for the shoes to have been darker color #10843695

Dale Hardin September 14, 2013 0

Thanks Rita. LOL! Only a woman would apply a fashion sense to a shot like this.

How some ever, it might be fun to experiment with that. Any preferences? #10843702

Peter W. Marks September 14, 2013 0

Oh! Rita, Don't you be wanting to mess with these Giorgio Armani $1600 shoes, Girl! We are not at K-MART now my dear.

Sorry, Dale; sometimes these youngsters just need admonishing. #10843713

Stephen Shoff September 14, 2013 0

I was thinking the same as Rita.

But more, this isn't a picture about color. Would this image stand on its own in B&W?

You could also clean up the little bit of grass blocking the lines of the shoes. It is impinging on the primary element of your image. #10843800

Dale Hardin September 14, 2013 0

Thanks for the suggestions Stephen. I cleaned up the grass and converted to black and white.

I don't think it works in black and white at all. Part of what makes this image are the bands of color against the beige of the legs and shoes. #10843811

Dale Hardin September 14, 2013 0

Oooops. Uploaded the wrong image. #10843816

Elaine Hessler September 14, 2013 0

This is really nice Dale! I am on board with Stephen-those are the two things I was thinking of. The bit of grass covering the toes on the foot on our left, and can you do something with the color of the shoe on the right to separate it more from the color of the foot and leg? This is where I would use that Nik plugin. The shoe on the left stands out due to the patterns in the leather, but there it is absent from the inside of the shoe on the other foot. Kinda blends in, but not a dealbreaker at all.

Just being picky-isn't that what we are supposed to do here?

:) LOVE the composition. Did she pose for you? #10843900

Kalena Randall September 14, 2013 0

Nice shots! I agree with Rita, but I don;t wear heels any more so what to I know! lol

I'm stictly a flip-fop and Reebok girl! #10843961

Dale Hardin September 14, 2013 0

Thanks for all the good ideas Elaine. No, she didn't pose. This was taken with a 300 mm lens from a park bench quite a ways off. She was waiting with a friend for her husband. Took some shots of her face as well which I'll check out later.

Kalena, thank you. I quite wearing heels also, many years ago. #10843996

Susan Williams September 15, 2013 0

Nice capture, Dale. I like it as is, but I wonder if it would be even better with less of the blurred grass in the foreground and a vertical comp to accentuate her legs. #10844111

Dale Hardin September 15, 2013 0

Let's give it a try Susan. Had to go to 8x10 format to have enough width. #10844153

Jeff E Jensen September 15, 2013 0

Alright, enough of the feet, lets see the rest of her. #10844154

Dale Hardin September 15, 2013 0

Here you go, Jeff. As you can see, she loves those shoes also. #10844174

Susan Williams September 15, 2013 0

I must say, Dale, I really like the vertical 8x10. She's a pretty lady. I don't see direct eye contact so I don't believe that applause was for you. :) #10844273

Dale Hardin September 15, 2013 0

LOL! I'm afraid you are right Susan. I'm like Rodney Dangerfield, "never get any respect" :o) #10844281

Elaine Hessler September 15, 2013 0

Hmmm. I like both crops, but I think the vertical crop appears a little less sharp. #10845101

Dale Hardin September 15, 2013 0

Could be Elaine. The image wasn't sharp to begin with and I may have forgotten to add sharpening when converting to jpeg. I'll have to look at the others I took to see if there are any that are sharper. #10845170

Dale Hardin September 15, 2013 0

Elaine, here are three more I found that I shot that day. #10845203

Elaine Hessler September 16, 2013 0

image 1 is really nice Dale!!! The detail is very nice on both feet. I really like those shoes... #10845324

Dale Hardin September 16, 2013 0

According to Peter, and he never lies (?) they are only $1600. Go for it. :o) #10845451

Susan Williams September 16, 2013 0

I really like the one with the hem of the dress. I like the shoes, too, but I'd rather have her legs. #10845458

Rita K. Connell level-classic September 16, 2013 0

Dale I do like the one with the hem of the dress showing also. but as for the original the edit with the grass fixed looks better. As for color dark brown would look nice with the grey and green back ground.

Peter Giorgio Armani $1600 shoes or not I do not like the color :0( #10846005

Michael Kelly level-classic September 17, 2013 0

A lot to look at on this thread. Nice out of the box work Dale. I like Image 1 the best and I think the original title will work well with the shot. Looks a bit soft, but I think this works well with the subject so would not sharpen it. #10847140

Dale Hardin September 17, 2013 0

Thank you Mike. That shot was soft from the get go, due to the distance and hand held. I managed some crisper shots as I continued shooting but some of the foot position weren't good. #10847281
